OUT at San Diego Pride 2010

I want to take a few minutes to thank attendees of last weekend’s San Diego Pride Celebration for all of their words of encouragement and support for the launching of OUT Engagement! It was really great to meet you all and also to hear about your engagement stories and histories of your relationships! A great big thanks to San Diego Gay and Lesbian News for their support of OUT at the Pride Festival at Balboa Park !

Working on the development of OUT has been meaningful to me in many ways. When I really stop to reflect, it feels pretty cool to be at a place in time where OUT can exist. I come to OUT from a number of influences, roles, and positions (both personal and professional) which shape my thinking and enthusiasm for this project.

My girlfriend Deyna and I are excited about the prospect of sharing our lives with one another. Yet, when it comes to sharing that excitement with others, we have certainly run into more than a few obstacles. OUT is here to get the ball rolling on the types of dialogue that need to occur in order for those obstacles to become a thing of the past.

Jennine and I are looking forward to being active participants in bringing greater visibility to the strength and beauty of gay and lesbian relationships. Public opinion on same-sex coupling and the various designations that have been proposed to recognize our relationships in the eyes of the law is shifting in our favor more rapidly than ever before. We are committed to generating literature and resources which support engaged gay and lesbian couples and their friends and family through this exciting time in their lives. We are so excited to be a part of you lives, your commitment, your OUT Engagement!

Thanks again for all of your support at Pride 2010!
